In autumn 2024, the community completed a new pavilion, built to Sport England guidelines. It officially opened on 1st June 2025 and now serves as the home of Great Bardfield FC’s Sunday team, while offering flexible space for wider community use.
A Legacy of Community Spirit
Gifted to the parish in the early 1950s, the Playing Field has long been a focal point for local life, traditionally home to football and cricket, but open to all for sports and social occasions. A children’s play area adds to its family-friendly appeal.

The Great Bardfield Pavilion 100 Club is a simple way to support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our community facilities – while enjoying the chance to win a monthly prize.
For just £3.50 per month (£42 per year), members are entered into a monthly draw with three prizes:
£100 – 1st prize £60 – 2nd prize £40 – 3rd prize
The first draw takes place on 7th June 2026.
Funds raised through the 100 Club go directly towards keeping the Pavilion well maintained, accessible and fit for the many clubs, activities and events that take place throughout the year.
The scheme is limited to 100 members. The first 100 entries will be allocated draw numbers, with additional applications placed on a waiting list should places become available in future.
